Over one hundred celebrants gathered for family fun on April 27th at
LaSalette Park. Sack races, pottery making and oil drum painting were
the activities enjoyed by eager participants. Two guided walks
involving more than 50 hikers explored the LaSalette section of a trail
network that will eventually connect Filley Park in Bloomfield center to
Penwood Park on Talcott Mountain.
The event was planned and coordinated by the Wintonbury Land Trust
with the Town of Bloomfield, Connecticut Department of Energy and
Environmental Protection and Auer Farm joining as co-sponsors. Doris
Johnson of DEEP commented that "this event is a great way to
celebrate natural resources in Bloomfield, connect people with nature and introduce participants to one of the most beautiful views in Bloomfield."
